Antithought - Life's too long EP (2013)

"Everybody has a different band or style of punk and hardcore that acted as a gateway drug for their introduction to the punk and hardcore scene. I had a lot of friends when I was a teenager that were really into the Chaos '82 style of European street punk and early hardcore. Some people were really into the more metal style of hardcore bands. Myself, I was into all the local DC bands, and street punk. I loved really fast street punk, and I still do. Think A Global Threat, Defiance, The Casualties, The Unseen. Well, had they been around when I was a teenager, I would have been adding St. Louis' Antithought to this list. Within 10 seconds of listening to their 5 song EP "Life's Too Long", I was already grinning from ear to ear. Full of that young rage and sing along parts this is a solid effort by the young band, especially for a completely DIY venture. Anybody that enjoys mid-90's to early 2000's era punkcore bands is sure to enjoy this band. God knows these songs will be stuck in my head for a while. Give em a listen." - InEffectHardcore.com

"Anti Thought hails from St. Louis and has only been around for about 8 months and play a mix of hardcore and streetpunk. After last years live demo “Life’s Too Long” is the band’s first studio recorded demo, and besides the digital release through Anti Thought’s Bandcamp page it also got released on a old school cassette by Acid Kat Records.

I personally prefer vinyl over cassettes any day, but for a first demo this is the perfect format and brings you back to the days when there was no, or hardly any, internet and this was the first step to make as a band. Besides the nostalgy of a demo tape also Anti Thought’s music takes you back into American hardcore’s history with 5 tracks that rage by in a minute or 7 influenced by bands such as Negative Approach and Negative FX and streetpunk bands such as Blanks ’77 and The Casualties.

If you are in the St. Louis area make sure to pick up this tape and if you are not from around there, or you simply just don’t have a tapedeck anymore, take a listen at their Bandcamp page if you are into the mentioned bands. These 7 minutes won’t dissapoint you!" - American Oi!
